I started sceptical over a few months, and it held up across all of them. The pattern was clear enough: the amount of information visible before matching tends to decide whether you stick with it.

I trialled the free tiers only once properly, which changed my answer completely. Whichever option you pick, whether verification exists at all explains most of the complaints here. The reading was similar again and again in a way that was hard to argue with. I would be curious honestly, and no thread substitutes for that.

What I would tell someone starting from scratch:

  • How the app handles a report — this is where the free tiers diverge.
  • Find out whether the app requires a social login
  • Whether matches expire after a set time
  • Look at whether there is a desktop experience at all — I underestimated this at first.
  • Find out how many profiles in your area have been active this week — genuinely worth knowing up front.

I asked three friends who use these regularly here, which took the guesswork out of it. Looking back, how the ranking rewards activity is easy to check and almost never checked.
