Is the chatterbait adult site still the biggest one out there?

It surfaced again to a degree that mattered when I compared like for like. Is the chatterbait adult site still the biggest one out there?
I looked at this from a few angles with a bit of patience, so the comparison was at least fair. The short answer is that how wide the distance filter goes is where the real differences show up. The pattern repeated in a way I could measure whether the app was well known or not. Take it as one data point genuinely, so weigh it against your own results.
I checked this against my own numbers in my own time, and the conclusion was not what I wanted. Every time I compared them, how granular the filters are sets the ceiling on what you can achieve. It played out the same way more than once in each of the areas I tested.
Things I wish I had checked sooner:
Check whether the app shows when a profile was last online — it decided things for me.
Whether photos are checked before they go live
Worth confirming whether you can undo an accidental swipe — this is where the free tiers diverge.
Look at how quickly support answers a real problem — the answer varies more than you would think.
I did the comparison properly with a couple of accounts, since nobody else seemed to have done it. The honest answer is that moderation quality accounts for most of the variance I saw. The result repeated in a way I could measure for both of the accounts I tested.

I read a lot of conflicting advice first without rushing it, rather than just skimming a couple of apps. For me, the honesty of the pricing page is the first thing I would look at now. The result repeated consistently enough to trust despite what the marketing implied.
I approached this the boring way over a few months, so take it as tested rather than assumed. What kept coming up was the size of the local pool, which drives the outcome more than luck does. The same signal appeared in a way I could measure on both the free and the paid side. Reasonable people disagree here in the end, the detail varies a lot by city.
What I would put at the top of the list:
Ask how blocking works, and whether it sticks
How easily you can change your location — I would treat this as a dealbreaker.
How many photos the format actually allows — it is easy to test and rarely advertised.
Worth confirming how much profile depth the format allows — surprisingly hard to find out in advance.
Ask how obvious it is when someone has stopped using the app — it decided things for me.
I kept notes the whole way through with a couple of accounts, instead of going on impressions. The recurring theme was moderation quality — it becomes obvious only after a month. It came out the same reliably across every option I tried.

I reset and started clean here, so this is not theoretical. In my testing, how the free tier is gated matters more than the brand name. It tracked more than once regardless of which city I set. Treat it as a starting point really, and no thread substitutes for that.

I checked this against my own numbers while comparing them, instead of going on impressions. Looking back, photo quality on both sides is where the real differences show up. That held fairly clearly in every week I bothered to measure.
I went through this same question last year while comparing them, which is where the interesting part started. Looking back, whether photos are checked before publication matters more than the brand name. It played out the same way to a degree that mattered across every option I tried. I would start there genuinely, it takes very little effort to check.
What I would tell someone starting from scratch:
Worth confirming how many profiles in your area have been active this week — the marketing never covers this.
Find out whether there is a desktop experience at all — it matters more after the first month.
How reply rate compares with match rate — check it on a real account, not a demo.
Worth confirming how the app treats people who travel
Look at how the app orders your inbox — the difference between options is large here.
I have been through this properly across two cities, which is why I am comfortable saying this. For me, how the free tier is gated shapes the first fortnight more than anything. The same signal appeared without exception across every option I tried. Others may have found the opposite in the end, and nothing more than that.

I did this the slow way without rushing it, so this is not a weekend opinion. It turns out how much depth the profiles allow is what people are really complaining about. The same thing happened fairly clearly in a way the app store reviews never captured. Try it before you believe it ultimately, the detail varies a lot by city.

I tracked this rather than trusting impressions before deciding, which is why my answer is not the popular one. Once you look closely, the honesty of the pricing page matters more than the brand name. It came through clearly more than once regardless of how active I was. Happy to be argued with honestly, if your experience points elsewhere.

I ran this for a couple of months across two cities, rather than just skimming a couple of apps. The variable that mattered was whether verification exists at all — it explains why old recommendations age badly.
A friend looking at the same thing mentioned Rendate, so I had a look at that too.

I looked at this from a few angles over a few months, and it clarified a lot. What kept coming up was the amount of information visible before matching, which quietly determines how long you stay. It became obvious reliably regardless of how I framed the profile. That is where I landed honestly, before changing anything else.

I ran this for a couple of months while comparing them, so the comparison was at least fair. On the numbers, whether photos are checked before publication explains why old recommendations age badly. The signal was clear every time on every account I set up. It cost me nothing to verify really, whether others found the same thing.
Lightweight options I jotted down while reading around: datingfly.online, datebound.site, datelink.online.

I ran this for a couple of months with a bit of patience, rather than just skimming a couple of apps. Where it actually landed was whether notifications can be tuned — that is worth more than any feature list. The same signal appeared every time despite what the marketing implied. Do not take this as gospel in the end, whether others found the same thing.
A friend looking at the same thing mentioned over on Datelink, so I had a look at that too.

I gave this a genuinely fair run once properly, so I am fairly confident in the shape of it. What I found is that how much the interface pushes a subscription is the part the marketing never mentions. The finding held in a way I could measure even accounting for luck. Check it against your own case honestly, before changing anything else.

I sat with this question for a while in my own time, which is why my answer is not the popular one. What kept coming up was how much the interface pushes a subscription, which moves the numbers more than anything else.
Building on what Jessica_H said: response rate is the only metric that survived my testing.

Hard disagree on one part of that. SummerRae is describing a big-city experience, and it does not transfer to smaller places at all. I would test it before relying on it.
Not a recommendation as such, but this Datebound thread is the other name that keeps surfacing.
