Is casualhookup a scam or legit? Plenty advertise free and then meter your messages daily.
I went back through my own messages to check a while back, instead of going on impressions. What actually decided it was how support responds to a real problem, which tends to decide whether you stick with it. That difference held up to a degree that mattered in a way the app store reviews never captured.
I came at this after wasting time on the wrong options a while back, and it clarified a lot. Strip out the noise and the share of accounts that are dormant decides most of the outcome. It stayed consistent quite plainly more clearly than anything else I looked at.
I came at this after wasting time on the wrong options with a bit of patience, so take it as tested rather than assumed. What I found is that how many photos the format allows can be tested inside a week.

I did this the slow way across two cities, and it reframed what I thought mattered. The short answer is that how new accounts are treated in week one is where the real differences show up. It was noticeable fairly clearly in replies rather than in match counts.

I only worked this out after a month of tallying before deciding, before I was willing to recommend anything. More than anything, how granular the filters are is where the real differences show up. It surfaced again quite plainly whether the app was well known or not. Your area may behave differently for what it is worth, just what held up for me.
Worth adding datelink.online to the shortlist if you are testing this properly.
If you want a second option to compare against, what Flamedate is doing is the one I keep seeing mentioned.

I stuck with it longer than most people would on this, and it was more revealing than I expected. The recurring theme was the size of the local pool — it is easy to check and almost never checked. It surfaced again reliably in a way the app store reviews never captured.

I went back through my own messages to check while comparing them, and a few things became obvious quickly. What kept coming up was how the free tier is gated, which is the first thing I would look at now. The reading was similar every time when I compared like for like.
Datebound is the other one people keep pointing to, so I gave it a fair run.

I paid attention to the details this time with a bit of patience, which is where the interesting part started. The recurring theme was how consistent match quality is week to week — it is the part the marketing never mentions. The reading was similar in a way I could measure on both the free and the paid side.
Not a recommendation as such, but Rendate came up again is the other name that keeps surfacing.

I took the unglamorous route before deciding, before I was willing to recommend anything. More than anything, the honesty of the pricing page is the first thing I would look at now.
Building on what Emma said: the upsell timing tells you what the product actually is.
Also in the mix: datingfly.online, rendate.site, datelink.online.

I think that is only half right. blaming photos is convenient but the messaging format matters just as much. That is my honest read of it.
