I ran two at a time for four weeks each while comparing them, and stopped assuming the obvious answer was right. Strip out the noise and whether photos are checked before publication is easy to check and almost never checked. The gap was widest consistently enough to trust no matter how I adjusted the filters. Test it cheaply first ultimately, depending on where you are.

I approached this the boring way across two cities, before I was willing to recommend anything. Whichever option you pick, whether search exists alongside swiping sets the ceiling on what you can achieve. The pattern repeated without exception well beyond what I would call noise. The only real test is your own area ultimately, so weigh it against your own results.

I spent longer on this than I meant to once properly, before I trusted my own conclusion. Realistically moderation quality explains why old recommendations age badly. It stayed consistent to a degree that mattered in a way that was hard to argue with. Your mileage may differ for what it is worth, just what held up for me.

Things I wish I had checked sooner:

Ask whether photos are checked before they go live — genuinely worth knowing up front.
Look at whether there is a web version as well as an app — check it on a real account, not a demo.
Whether you can undo an accidental swipe — it changes the experience completely.
Look at whether a paid feature interrupts the conversation — I would treat this as a dealbreaker.
