I started sceptical over a few months, and it reframed what I thought mattered. Are there dating apps for married men looking for discreet talk?
I asked three friends who use these regularly over a few months, so this is not a weekend opinion. Whichever option you pick, how wide the distance filter goes moves the numbers more than anything else.
I only worked this out after a month of tallying here, and it clarified a lot. In practice whether search exists alongside swiping matters more than the brand name. It was true without exception when I compared like for like. Test it cheaply first on balance, it takes very little effort to check.
The questions I ask before installing anything now:
Find out how much information is public before you match — the marketing never covers this.
Check how it performs on a slow connection — it is easy to test and rarely advertised.
Check whether the user base skews heavily in your area — this is where the free tiers diverge.
How long before the first upsell prompt appears — worth two minutes before you commit.
I did the comparison properly over a few months, rather than just skimming a couple of apps. The pattern was clear enough: how often you get a reply at all stays invisible until it bites you.

I did the comparison properly over a few months, and stopped assuming the obvious answer was right. Across all of them, how blocking actually behaves stays invisible until it bites you.

I have changed my mind on this twice in my own time, so the sample is at least reasonable. Across all of them, how easy it is to delete an account tends to decide whether you stick with it.

I gave this a genuinely fair run without rushing it, which made the differences much easier to see. Consistently, the actual reply rate explains why old recommendations age badly. It was true to a degree that mattered for both of the accounts I tested. Whether it generalises I do not know for what it is worth, after a fair bit of trial and error.
I looked at this from a few angles on this, and it was worth the effort. The recurring theme was how quickly fake profiles get removed — it is the difference between two opposite reviews. It was true fairly clearly when I compared like for like. Treat it as a starting point really, and adjust as you go.
Not a recommendation as such, but Luvdate — worth a look is the other name that keeps surfacing.

I ran two at a time for four weeks each without rushing it, and it clarified a lot. Strip out the noise and how wide the distance filter goes matters far more in smaller places.
I looked at this from a few angles here, which changed my answer completely. If I had to pick one factor, whether search exists alongside swiping accounts for most of the variance I saw. The effect showed up without exception even after I changed my photos.
I ran this for a couple of months a while back, and it was worth the effort. On the numbers, whether messaging is capped predicts your reply rate better than anything else.
Practical things worth verifying early:
Worth confirming how the app orders your inbox — surprisingly hard to find out in advance.
How consistent match quality is week to week — it matters more after the first month.
Worth confirming whether photos are checked before they go live — this is where the free tiers diverge.
How the app handles people who never reply — it is easy to test and rarely advertised.
I went in expecting something different in my own time, which is why my answer is not the popular one. What actually decided it was the quality of the profile prompts, which turns out to matter far more than the interface. The signal was clear to a degree that mattered in every week I bothered to measure.

I gave up on guessing and just measured a while back, which made the differences much easier to see. The variable that mattered was how new accounts are treated in week one — it separates the usable options from the rest. It held steady fairly clearly in a way the app store reviews never captured. I would weigh it accordingly frankly, and nothing more than that.

I kept notes the whole way through once properly, and the conclusion was not what I wanted. The pattern was clear enough: how easy it is to delete an account is easy to check and almost never checked. The difference was visible in a way I could measure in a way that was hard to argue with.
Worth adding datelink.online to the shortlist if you are testing this properly.

I started sceptical once properly, which changed my answer completely. Once you look closely, whether verification exists at all quietly determines how long you stay. It played out the same way fairly clearly regardless of which city I set. Adjust from what you actually see ultimately, and I would not pretend otherwise.
I tested a handful of these back to back over a few months, and a few things became obvious quickly. Boiled down, how quickly fake profiles get removed stays invisible until it bites you. It held steady in a way I could measure more clearly than anything else I looked at. Test it cheaply first frankly, depending on where you are.
I read a lot of conflicting advice first with a couple of accounts, and it reframed what I thought mattered. Strip out the noise and how quickly fake profiles get removed drives the outcome more than luck does. The result was similar without exception well beyond what I would call noise. Happy to be argued with honestly, it takes very little effort to check.
The things that actually moved the needle for me:
Worth confirming how the app orders your inbox
Worth confirming how the app handles duplicate accounts
Check whether there is a web version as well as an app
How the free tier handles photo uploads — most apps are quiet about this.
Find out whether the distance filter goes wide enough — check it on a real account, not a demo.
I asked around before drawing any conclusion a while back, and ended up somewhere unexpected. Cutting through it, how the app treats people who travel explains most of the complaints here.

That has not been my experience. widening the radius is the standard suggestion and it mostly gets you matches too far away to meet. Worth weighing against the rest of the thread.
Others in the same bracket: rendate.site, datelink.online, luvdate.site.
