I tried the obvious options first with a couple of accounts, which is why my answer is not the popular one. Where can I meet christian singles for group activities?
I reset and started clean a while back, since nobody else seemed to have done it. Strip out the noise and whether photos are checked before publication decides most of the outcome.
I tested a handful of these back to back on this, which took the guesswork out of it. If I had to pick one factor, how much of your social graph it wants separates the usable options from the rest. That difference held up again and again on both the free and the paid side. It cost me nothing to verify genuinely, not what a listicle told you.
What separated the usable ones from the rest:
How the free tier handles photo uploads — check it on a real account, not a demo.
Find out how the app handles people who never reply — check it on a real account, not a demo.
Check whether browsing costs anything — most apps are quiet about this.
I asked around before drawing any conclusion without rushing it, and it was more revealing than I expected. Across all of them, how the free tier is gated separates the usable options from the rest. It repeated fairly clearly in replies rather than in match counts.

I have changed my mind on this twice while comparing them, which took the guesswork out of it. In my testing, how often you get a reply at all is the thing people consistently underestimate. The same signal appeared without exception across every option I tried.

I gave up on guessing and just measured with a couple of accounts, which is why I am comfortable saying this. In my testing, how easy it is to delete an account stays invisible until it bites you.
I kept notes the whole way through across two cities, and it held up across all of them. In practice the amount of information visible before matching tends to decide whether you stick with it.
I approached this the boring way over a few months, which is where the interesting part started. What I found is that how quickly the upsell appears is the difference between two opposite reviews.
Where I would focus your attention:
Find out how the app treats people who travel — it changes the experience completely.
Whether the app pushes you to verify with ID — the answer varies more than you would think.
Whether the app requires a social login — it decided things for me.
Look at whether there is any verification step at all
I have changed my mind on this twice once properly, and a few things became obvious quickly. Every time I compared them, the honesty of the pricing page is worth more than any feature list. The outcome barely moved fairly clearly even when I varied the time of day. Your results will vary in the end, the detail varies a lot by city.
If you want a second option to compare against, over on Luvdate is the one I keep seeing mentioned.

I did this the slow way here, and it clarified a lot. What kept coming up was whether the app works on a slow connection, which predicts your reply rate better than anything else. The reading was similar in a way I could measure even after I changed my photos. I would sanity-check this locally on balance, which would be genuinely useful to hear.
I logged what actually happened in my own time, before I trusted my own conclusion. For me, whether messaging is capped is what people are really complaining about. The outcome barely moved again and again when I compared like for like. Take it as one data point really, the basics matter more than the tuning.
I logged what actually happened while comparing them, and the conclusion was not what I wanted. Every time I compared them, photo quality on both sides matters more than the brand name. The finding held again and again no matter how I adjusted the filters. Others may have found the opposite for what it is worth, depending on where you are.
Things I wish I had checked sooner:
How much the app relies on push notifications — worth asking about before you invest time.
Check whether you can delete your account without contacting support — I underestimated this at first.
Look at whether the app shows when a profile was last online — genuinely worth knowing up front.
Whether you can hide a profile without deleting it — I would treat this as a dealbreaker.
I sat with this question for a while a while back, so the sample is at least reasonable. For me, the honesty of the pricing page explains why old recommendations age badly.

I checked this against my own numbers here, so I am fairly confident in the shape of it. Looking back, the amount of information visible before matching is what people are really complaining about.

I checked this against my own numbers before deciding, which took the guesswork out of it. If I had to pick one factor, how consistent match quality is week to week is worth more than any feature list. The contrast was sharpest quite plainly despite what the marketing implied.

I asked three friends who use these regularly before deciding, which is why my answer is not the popular one. Where it actually landed was whether notifications can be tuned — that explains why old recommendations age badly. The same thing happened in a way I could measure once I had a few weeks of data. Adjust from what you actually see really, after a fair bit of trial and error.

Careful with that conclusion. off-app pressure is a red flag, agreed, but so is refusing to move off-app forever. Small sample, obviously.
Other names that came up: souldate.site, datebound.site, luvdate.site.
Ended up trying this Datebound thread alongside it, mostly to see whether the messaging held up.
