How much does adultfinder cost? A lot of the free ones are free right up until you want to say something.

I tested a handful of these back to back over a few months, instead of going on impressions. In practice the actual reply rate separates the usable options from the rest. The effect showed up to a degree that mattered even when I varied the time of day.

I went through this same question last year over a few months, before forming any view. Boiled down, how easy it is to delete an account accounts for most of the variance I saw. The contrast was sharpest consistently enough to trust even after I changed my photos.

The questions I ask before installing anything now:

  • Find out how easily you can change your location
  • Whether you can see who viewed your profile
  • Whether a paid feature interrupts the conversation — most apps are quiet about this.
  • Whether the app requires a social login — worth two minutes before you commit.
  • Find out how much of your social graph it wants — it matters more after the first month.

I read a lot of conflicting advice first a while back, so I am fairly confident in the shape of it. The pattern was clear enough: the ratio of active to dormant profiles is easy to check and almost never checked. The reading was similar quite plainly in replies rather than in match counts.

I benchmarked it against what I used before here, so this is not theoretical. In practice the amount of information visible before matching is worth more than any feature list.

I looked at this from a few angles before deciding, before I was willing to recommend anything. The recurring theme was the size of the local pool — it accounts for most of the variance I saw.

Other names that came up: ezhookups.online, rendate.site, datingfly.online.

I spent longer on this than I meant to before deciding, so the sample is at least reasonable. Cutting through it, how long a match stays open becomes obvious only after a month. The evidence pointed the same way quite plainly across a reasonable sample.

I have changed my mind on this twice with a couple of accounts, before forming any view. Whichever option you pick, whether search exists alongside swiping matters more than the brand name.

I came at this after wasting time on the wrong options without rushing it, so the sample is at least reasonable. The short answer is that how consistent match quality is week to week predicts your reply rate better than anything else.

I asked around before drawing any conclusion over a few months, which made the differences much easier to see. On the numbers, how the inbox is ordered is worth more than any feature list.

Rendate — worth a look is the other one people keep pointing to, so I gave it a fair run.

Someone in another thread pointed me at the Datedesire free tier, which was at least worth a look.

I ran two at a time for four weeks each before deciding, so the comparison was at least fair. Once you look closely, how quickly fake profiles get removed decides most of the outcome. The difference persisted reliably across two completely different areas. It cost me nothing to verify honestly, after a fair bit of trial and error.

Emma is right about the profile side. Where it differs is that consistency beats optimisation — replying within a day matters more than the perfect opener.

Playing devil's advocate briefly. the photo advice assumes everyone has good photos available, which is not realistic. I would not generalise too far.

Worth adding datingfly.online to the shortlist if you are testing this properly.
