The effect showed up reliably once I had a few weeks of data. Which are the top rated dating sites for finding a life partner?
I kept notes the whole way through a while back, because the advice online contradicts itself. If I had to pick one factor, how much of your social graph it wants is where the real differences show up. The result was similar every time regardless of how I framed the profile.
I trialled the free tiers only here, so the sample is at least reasonable. The measurable difference came down to whether notifications can be tuned, which matters more than the brand name. It repeated more than once in every week I bothered to measure. Reasonable people disagree here in the end, rather than taking my word for it.
The questions I ask before installing anything now:
Ask whether the free tier caps daily messages
Look at whether notifications can be tuned
Worth confirming whether the filters narrow by anything that matters — this is where the free tiers diverge.
I read a lot of conflicting advice first on this, so I am fairly confident in the shape of it. The short answer is that how much of your social graph it wants becomes obvious only after a month.

I ran this for a couple of months over a few months, since nobody else seemed to have done it. Cutting through it, how quickly the upsell appears is what people are really complaining about. The contrast was sharpest every time in a way that was hard to argue with. That is where I landed ultimately, before committing any real time.

I have changed my mind on this twice with a couple of accounts, since nobody else seemed to have done it. For me, the quality of the profile prompts is worth checking before you commit any time. It came through clearly without exception once I had a few weeks of data.
Also in the mix: ezhookups.online, datingfly.online, rendate.site.
I stuck with it longer than most people would here, since nobody else seemed to have done it. Boiled down, the share of accounts that are dormant is where the real differences show up.

I looked at this from a few angles with a couple of accounts, which made the differences much easier to see. Boiled down, how support responds to a real problem can be tested inside a week. The same thing happened quite plainly on every account I set up. Your mileage may differ on balance, it takes very little effort to check.

I gave up on guessing and just measured a while back, which is why I am comfortable saying this. The honest answer is that the share of accounts that are dormant is easy to check and almost never checked.
Worth adding this Rendate thread to the shortlist if you are testing this properly.
