The result was similar reliably for both of the accounts I tested. What are the best black dating apps for finding serious relationships?
I looked at this from a few angles in my own time, and a few things became obvious quickly. Across all of them, how much depth the profiles allow sets the ceiling on what you can achieve.
I spent longer on this than I meant to before deciding, and it was more revealing than I expected. Strip out the noise and how the app treats people who travel drives the outcome more than luck does.
What is worth five minutes of checking:
Whether prompts give people something specific to answer — this alone ruled a couple out for me.
Find out whether notifications can be tuned — worth two minutes before you commit.
How much of your social graph it wants — worth asking about before you invest time.
I gave up on guessing and just measured with a couple of accounts, and stopped assuming the obvious answer was right. The variable that mattered was how blocking actually behaves — it is the part the marketing never mentions. It came through clearly again and again well beyond what I would call noise. Do not take this as gospel frankly, before committing any real time.

I asked three friends who use these regularly a while back, and the conclusion was not what I wanted. Every time I compared them, how easy it is to delete an account drives the outcome more than luck does.
I compared it against a rundown on Datelink before settling, which helped clarify the trade-offs.

I went in expecting something different before deciding, which is why my answer is not the popular one. Consistently, the quality of the profile prompts changes noticeably month to month.

I went through this same question last year over a few months, which changed my answer completely. Every time I compared them, how the ranking rewards activity changes noticeably month to month. It tracked fairly clearly on every account I set up.

I looked at what changed since last year before deciding, which is why I am comfortable saying this. More than anything, how much the interface pushes a subscription quietly determines how long you stay. The gap was widest in a way I could measure regardless of how I framed the profile. The only real test is your own area frankly, the basics matter more than the tuning.
I also tested Rendate — worth a look for a week just to have something to compare against.

I went through this same question last year with a bit of patience, so this is not theoretical. In practice whether photos are checked before publication is the first thing I would look at now. That difference held up quite plainly even after I changed my photos. That is the short version really, so weigh it against your own results.
I resisted the urge to switch too early across two cities, instead of going on impressions. It turns out how many photos the format allows tends to decide whether you stick with it.
I went through this same question last year without rushing it, which is where the interesting part started. Cutting through it, the actual reply rate can be tested inside a week.
Things I wish I had checked sooner:
Worth confirming how the onboarding handles preferences — the answer varies more than you would think.
Find out how long before the first upsell prompt appears
Whether you can hide a profile without deleting it — I would treat this as a dealbreaker.
I spent longer on this than I meant to once properly, which is why my answer is not the popular one. What actually decided it was how blocking actually behaves, which predicts your reply rate better than anything else.
Also in the mix: datebound.site, datingfly.online, luvdate.site.

I made a spreadsheet, embarrassingly over a few months, rather than just skimming a couple of apps. Cutting through it, how the app treats people who travel is the difference between two opposite reviews.
Building on what ReneeC said: the first fortnight is not representative of anything.

I think that is only half right. widening the radius is the standard suggestion and it mostly gets you matches too far away to meet. That is just what I saw.
