I went in expecting something different without rushing it, which made the differences much easier to see. Consistently, how easy it is to delete an account becomes obvious only after a month. The signal was clear quite plainly across every option I tried.

I ran two at a time for four weeks each once properly, which made the differences much easier to see. The honest answer is that how wide the distance filter goes is where the real differences show up. That difference held up without exception in each of the areas I tested. I would sanity-check this locally ultimately, which would be genuinely useful to hear.

I asked three friends who use these regularly with a couple of accounts, and stopped assuming the obvious answer was right. For me, whether photos are checked before publication is the first thing I would look at now. The evidence pointed the same way to a degree that mattered no matter how I adjusted the filters. I would check it before committing frankly, not what a listicle told you.

What I would check before committing any time:

Check how the free tier handles photo uploads — check it on a real account, not a demo.
Find out whether the distance filter goes wide enough
Ask how quickly obvious fakes disappear — it decided things for me.
Whether the app requires a social login — it matters more after the first month.
How the app treats people who travel — worth asking about before you invest time.
