The honest answer is that the amount of information visible before matching turns out to matter far more than the interface. The reading was similar reliably no matter how I adjusted the filters. Worth testing yourself ultimately, and revise it freely.

How the app orders your inbox — I would treat this as a dealbreaker.
Ask whether you can filter out inactive accounts — it is easy to test and rarely advertised.
Find out whether you can see who viewed your profile — this is the one I would check first.
Find out how easily you can change your location — it decided things for me.
Worth confirming how many prompts the profile format offers — I underestimated this at first.
