I have changed my mind on this twice without rushing it, and the conclusion was not what I wanted. Strip out the noise and how support responds to a real problem is easy to check and almost never checked. The effect stayed consistently enough to trust across every option I tried. Others may have found the opposite genuinely, and nothing more than that.

I tried the obvious options first over a few months, before forming any view. The recurring theme was whether verification exists at all — it drives the outcome more than luck does. The evidence pointed the same way fairly clearly whether the app was well known or not. Your mileage may differ really, if your experience points elsewhere.

I went back through my own messages to check in my own time, and the results surprised me. On the numbers, whether verification exists at all changes noticeably month to month. Whether browsing costs anything — the marketing never covers this.
How it performs on a slow connection — I underestimated this at first.
Find out whether the app shows when a profile was last online
Find out how much profile depth the format allows — worth two minutes before you commit.
